I am very happy to announce that Echoes of Yesterday has been approached by the lovely Jaclyn to create some custom pieces for her pop up shop- Audrey Grace.

Its such an exciting opportunity, I love both Audrey and Kelly, they are such beautiful, stylish ladies. And the clothing of the 50's and 60's have also been of great inspiration to me.

Beautiful Bows

I am well known as a lover of bows. So I decided to start making some sweet little bow ties for the ladies.
Im still in the production stage, fine tuning my ideas and sorting out packaging. But I hope to be selling them soon. I'm considering packaging each bow tie with a paper doll like above. Any thoughts?

I Love Lolita Shoes

I love Lolita shoes. They are the cutest coolest shoes around. Sadly they are not easily accessible here in Australia. So if I want some I have to shop online, and I have never been big on buying shoes over the Internet. But I think I may finally give in and buy some because I just found a great website that has oodles to choose from and their prices are soo much better than those on eBay. Above are a few of my personal favourites. My only problem now is narrowing down my choices.

Fashion Sketches

I have been a buzzy bee recently. I am working hard at putting together a portfolio for my entrance into a Bachelor of Fashion Design. I really really want to be doing this course next year so I'm giving it my all. As a result Ive been neglecting my blog. But as I finish of my work I'll try take photos and post them.
So far I have completed two outfits, I will be starting the third tomorrow. As soon as I can I'll try get some decent photos of them.
I have also been working on some fashion illustrations, theres heaps of half finished ones that are still missing feet and things. To be honest I've always really worked straight from my head, skipping out the design sketches. So I working on developing my own style and I am quite happy with where its going. I wanted a combination of my love for fashion and my love for art. They still need to be coloured, but what do you think?

Grimoire

Grimoire is the pioneering store behind Japan's Dolly kei fashion scene. A treasure trove of antiques sourced from around the globe. It's name is taken from an old book of magic. The shop has a strong atmosphere to it, decorated to appear like a girls home in the forest. Filled with such beautiful and eerie objects I believe I could get lost for hours.
Oh how I dream of going to Japan.

Dolly Girls

The Japanese Dolly Kei fashion scene is my latest obsession. 

Such expression through fashion is just not present in the western world.

This style plays off the look of antique dolls. Old faded cloth, white porcelain, feminine yet a little creepy.

I imagine a beautiful young mystic living in the woods. Their home is an old cottage covered with vines, time and nature have reclaimed it. Draped in lace, cotton, leather and fur. She surrounds herself with dreams, books, antique dolls and mother nature.

Dolly Girls tend to exclusively wear antique and vintage clothing. Damaged pieces do not matter. Tears, fading, stains and imperfections are the markings of its past life and are therefore cherished. There is strong emphasis put on each and every detail. Beautiful and intricate. Layer upon layer of clothing and mementos. Each piece is special and full of meaning.

Inspiration is drawn from Eastern Europe during the middle ages, folk stories, fantasy, wizards, witchcraft, Renaissance, Marie Antoinette, Harry Potter, Narnia and fairy tales.
